Isn’t that bitter?

Getting closer to the Pennsylvania primaries on the 22nd of April a topic has popped up that might do some damage to Barack Obama and his potential results in the East Coast State. It was the Huffington Post, the popular weblog of Ariana Huffington, that brought it up. At a fundraising meeting in San Francisco the other day Obama was asked about his campaign experiences up to now and why he was still lacking support of the working-class voters. Compassion for a coin

pennymania.jpg I wouldn't believe it, but it was true. I was standing in front of a trash can at the airport with one handful of pennies, ready and willing to just throw them away. The above picture struck me in the "Gentlemen's parlor" of a big Plantation house near New Orleans built in 1856. It shows the heads of two men left and right from the center of the ceiling's ornament painting. "This tells us that ... weiterlesen...

Traces of man made disaster

flood-street.jpg katrina-treppe-mit-hausnummer.jpgkatrina-teddy-friends.jpgkatrina-fotoalbum.jpg When I came to New Orleans I had no idea how Hurricane Katrina had really hit and destroyed the town. It was a journalist who provided insight, the Feature Editor of the local newspaper, the Times Picayune. The team did a great job covering the storm and its consequences and got two Pulitzer Prices for their reporting. We did a "Katrina Tour". That might sound irritating at first ... weiterlesen...
